The Apprentice - The Jennys Get The Boot In Double Apprentice Firing

Jenny Celerier and Jennifer Maguire were both shown the door on last night's episode of The Apprentice.

The seventh episode of the BBC1 reality show became the most shocking so far as Sir Alan Sugar surprised contestants by firing two aspiring tycoons following a Morocco-based bargaining task.

The teams were tasked with bartering for items such as kosher chicken, medium-strung tennis racquets, tagines and slippers in a French-speaking Marrakesh souk, and charged with spending the smallest amount possible.

But when Celerier was found to have attempted to bribe a market trader to prevent the other team acquiring a tennis racquet - a trick Sir Alan described as "dirty cheap sabotage" - she became the seventh contestant fired from the show.

Sir Alan's work was not over, however, and he opted to fire Maguire as well, citing her poor team leadership.

Maguire had been in charge of the losing Renaissance team and had presided over a bewildering debate concerning whether kosher chicken could be blessed in a mosque.

Michael Sophocles came under fire from Sir Alan for claiming to be a "good Jewish boy" in his application form but was saved from the chop because "you are young and sometimes I have to look back and reflect on over-enthusiasm I might have had in my very young days," Sir Alan said.

Instead 27-year-old Maguire - who had described herself as the best salesperson in Europe - was fired, with her mid-task comment that "Muslims have kosher meat" sealing her fate.

She became the eighth contestant fired because the numerous Renaissance mistakes "were made by people out of control", Sir Alan added.

"It was like he said, 'I'm not feeling the Jennys'", Maguire said afterwards.

"There's a room there that needs to be cleared out. Let's just get rid of the two of them".
